Built for the work of creating

Miraforge is an independent software company building tools for writers and other creative professionals.

A journal, pen, and brass instruments on a writer's desk.

We started Miraforge because we are writers ourselves, and we grew tired of assembling a creative workspace from software made by different companies for different purposes. Each tool might do its job well, but moving constantly between them breaks the creative rhythm. Manuscripts become separated from notes. Characters and places live somewhere else. Timelines, research, and ideas scatter across applications, files, and services.

Over time, the work itself becomes fragmented.

We wanted something different: a place where the manuscript and everything that gives it context could live together, without the software getting in the way of the writing.

We also wanted confidence that our work remained ours. Creative projects can represent years of thought and effort. They shouldn't depend on the continued existence of a particular cloud service or company. Writers should be able to understand where their work lives, keep control of it, and trust that the tools they use today won't become a barrier to their work tomorrow.

That thinking became Miraforge Studio.

Technology should serve the writer

The arrival of generative AI added another question: what role, if any, should AI have in a creative workspace?

We understand why that question is divisive. Miraforge isn't built around AI, and AI isn't required to use Studio. We began with the traditional tools writers actually need: writing, organization, lore, timelines, structure, relationships, and the ability to understand a growing body of creative work.

But we also believe AI can be useful when it is applied with restraint and purpose.

We aren't interested in bolting a general-purpose chatbot onto a manuscript or asking a machine to become the author. We are interested in the less glamorous problems: finding information buried in years of notes, checking continuity, organizing material, handling repetitive work, and helping a writer navigate the growing complexity of a project without losing focus.

Our goal is not AI that demands your attention.

It is technology that quietly removes obstacles from your path.

Keep creating

Miraforge exists to help creative people spend more of their time creating.

That means building tools that work together instead of pulling you in different directions. It means respecting ownership of the work and the choices of the person creating it. And it means adopting new technology when it genuinely makes the creative process better, not simply because it is new.

We aren't pro-AI or anti-AI.

We're pro-creator.

That's the standard we're building Miraforge around.
